This session will provide an overview of simple yoga routines that address IEP goals such as O&M concepts, literacy, etc... We will discuss specific strategies used to increase these and other ECC skills. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a fun yoga routine for children with visual and multiple impairments!

The Texas Association for Parents of Children with Visual Impairments (TAPVI) have been sponsoring events specifically for family members to involve them in games, adapted sports, bowling and other recreational venues in the community.

In this session we will talk about the hands and touch as it relates to individuals with deafblindness who do not communicate through conventional means. We will discuss cultural attitudes about touch, the importance of touch for individuals who are blind, and how to teach and communicate using touch in a respectful manner.

Support for Students in Africa with Albinism

This presentation details a June 2014 mission/service trip to help children in Tanzania who have albinism. These children are housed in about a dozen orphanage facilities across the country to protect them from certain natives who “hunt” them for body parts. Collaborative outreach efforts to support these students are ongoing.
